How Fragile A Rose
(In memory of Diana Frances Spencer, Princess of Wales, 1961-1997)
How fragile a rose
as it breaks out of the fallow
ground;
how tender and coy in the
sway of love newly-found.
In the morn it sparkled
with the grace and sweetness
of a child’s innocency:
an expression of endearment
that touched the soul
of a passive humanity.
How tragic a rose
that shunned empty
and meaningless fame;
for once we admired its beauty
and we are never the same.
I really like this poem. It reminds me of the kind of poems that i like to write.
